Mercy Medical Center will open a new community health facility next week, the latest step in its efforts to “ring the Beltway” with outposts providing primary and specialty care .
Mercy Personal Physicians at Glen Burnie is an $8.5 million medical office that aims to provide one-stop shopping for primary care, diagnostic and laboratory services and some specialized care to the Glen Burnie, Pasadena, Millersville, Severn, Gibson Island and Severna Park areas.
Mercy expects more than 26,000 primary care visits per year, according to a statement from the health system.
In addition to primary care, specialists in fields including cardiology, endocrinology, gynecology, orthopedics and neurosurgery will see patients at the facility, located in the Southdale Shopping Center, according to Mercy.
The new facility consolidates and expands two Glen Burnie Personal Physicians locations that were previously located on Crain Highway and will offer evening and Saturday hours, according to the health system.
It’s the latest primary care facility to open in a local, retail shopping center. Last year, Saint Agnes Healthcare opened a primary care facility in a former Room Store location in Catonsville, and plans to eventually offer urgent care and specialist services there as well.
