How vital is the access to technology in a child’s education?

Access to technology in a child’s education is vital, providing it is effectively used. Technology for technology’s sake in education has proven to be an expensive waste at times, and it is paramount that schools truly learn and understand how to leverage technology as a learning tool and not as a shiny and whizzy gadget that ends up not benefiting the child. When used effectively, technology can and will transform teaching and learning.

If you had not chosen technology as a profession, what profession would you choose and why?

While technology has been a passion of mine for as long as I can remember, education has always been my other passion, so helping students (and teachers) learn has always been near to my heart. I did pursue a degree in childhood education many years ago, with the intention of becoming a 4th grade teacher. Of course, my plan was to demonstrate how technology could be utilized in the classroom every day.
