The Equal Justice Council of Maryland Legal Aid held its 10th annual managing partners meeting Oct. 26, hosted by Miles & Stockbridge.
The Hon. Mary Ellen Barbera, chief judge of the Maryland Court of Appeals, was the featured speaker along with special guest speaker Sheela Murthy of the Murthy Law Firm.
The Managing Partners Meeting brings together leaders of Maryland’s legal community. This year, attendees learned about the success and expansion of Maryland Legal Aid’s Community Lawyering Initiative, which is having a positive impact on low-income individuals and families across the state.
The Equal Justice Council is composed of managing attorneys from Maryland’s top law firms and other prominent members of the Maryland Bar and corporate community. Since 1997, members of the EJC have raised funds for Maryland Legal Aid to increase equal access to justice for low-income Marylanders, while also serving as dedicated advocates who raise awareness of the organization’s work.
The Equal Justice Council is led by co-chairs Martin Himeles Jr., of Zuckerman Spaeder LLP, and Lee Ogburn, of Kramon & Graham P.A.
