Mike Miller at the kids’ table?

Gov. Larry Hogan was talking turkey and poking the bear during a Monday morning interview on a Southern Maryland radio station.

Hogan, appearing on the on the T-Bone and Heather show on WSMD 98.3 FM to promote a later announcement at the Gov. Harry W. Nice Bridge, said he has already had his Thanksgiving dinner this past weekend.

“We did something a little different this year,” Hogan said. “We celebrated Thanksgiving early and we invited all of our family over this past Saturday just two days ago so that we could give the whole staff at Government House off for Thanksgiving.”

“I think it’s the first, some of them said it was the first time in 20 years they got to spend time with their families,” Hogan added.

The governor said he did plan to “sneak down” to visit his daughter and her family who live in Leonardtown and enjoy some fried oysters and more turkey.

But aside from giving the staff some time off, Hogan did take a moment to have a little fun at the expense of Senate President Thomas V. Mike Miller Jr. It’s probably a good thing Hogan has already had his meal at the Governor’s Mansion and that Miller didn’t attend.

“Do you have a kids table and if so, do you put Mike Miller there?” asked T-Bone.

Miller and Hogan are friends but the two have also had their moments as political combatants who don’t always see eye to eye.

Hogan laughed at the question.

“That would really make for a great Thanksgiving,” Hogan said. “We’d have to put him in time out and maybe he wouldn’t get any dessert.”
