Insurance law regards staffed-out nurse as ’employee,’ 4th Circuit says

A Cayman Islands-based insurance company that erroneously denied liability coverage could be on the hook for the nearly $3 million in settlement and legal-defense costs another insurer incurred in underwriting the expenses for a nurse accused of medical malpractice at Laurel Regional Hospital, a federal appeals court ruled this week.
