Criminal procedures — Jury instructions — Voluntary and involuntary intoxication

A jury in the Circuit Court for Baltimore City convicted James Goss, appellant, of one count of first-degree assault, two counts of second-degree assault, and one count of carrying a deadly weapon openly with intent to injure. Appellant was sentenced to a total term of 33 years’ imprisonment.

In this appeal, appellant presents the following questions for our review:

1. Did the trial court err in refusing to ask, during voir dire, whether any potential jurors had strong feelings about the crime of assault against a police officer?

2. Did the trial court err in refusing to provide jury instructions on the issues of voluntary and involuntary intoxication?
