Greenberg named 6th Judicial Circuit administrative judge

Montgomery County Circuit Judge Robert A. Greenberg has been named administrative judge for the 6th Judicial Circuit, which includes Montgomery and Frederick counties.

Greenberg, on Aug. 1, will succeed retiring Judge John W. Debelius III, who has served as administrative judge since 2009.

A Montgomery County native, Greenberg received his law degree in 1978 from the University of Baltimore School of Law. He was appointed to the circuit court bench in 2006. Prior to joining the bench, he was a criminal defense lawyer for 22 years and also served as an assistant state’s attorney in Montgomery County from 1981 to 1984.

“Judge Debelius and I have worked together for 11 years. He set a standard of leadership that I will strive to emulate,” Greenberg said in a statement. “I am looking forward to leading our Circuit during an exciting and dynamic time, including the implementation of a modernized, electronic case management system, and will continue to focus on providing the highest standard of judicial services.”
