Standard Solar Inc., a solar energy company in Rockville, has finished building a 541.8 kilowatt solar power system at Salisbury University.

The system has four canopies and five electric vehicle charging stations. The company will own, operate and maintain the system for 20 years, after which the project will belong to the university.

The canopies provide share for Lot H at the university, and provide power to nearby buildings.

Standar Solar said the new system will produce  765,100 kilowatt hours of electricity annually, which is equivalent to the electricity needed to power the Manokin, Pocomoke and Wicomico residence halls for a year.
