Diana Mitchell Emerson
Volunteer Services Manager
Anne Arundel Medical Center
For Diana Mitchell Emerson, being successful engenders responsibility to those who have helped her and those who will come after. “I live by this and dedicate my time and energy on taking my skill sets to new levels while working to improve on my weaknesses,” she said.
Emerson, volunteer services manager at the Anne Arundel Medical Center, is also a believer in giving back to her community. Among her most significant professional accomplishments, she counts participating as an organizer for one of the first annual parades down Greenmount Avenue in Baltimore as a peak moment. “Celebrating what is and what will continue to be the Baltimore that we know and love,” she said. “Service is the rent we pay here on Earth.”
A large portion of her time is spent working with a variety of organizations that focus on the empowerment of women and girls to provide them with the tools and resources they need. A former chairwoman for the Junior League of Baltimore and currently a member of the Junior League of Annapolis, Emerson also serves with the National Coalition of 100 Black Women in Anne Arundel County. She was a volunteer mentor at My Sisters Circle from 2014 to 2016, a board member at Pets on Wheels in 2016 and is the 2017 Mrs. Delmarva.
“I also spend time in various communities serving as a mentor and lending a helping hand on neighborhood beautification efforts, revitalization and utilizing my skill set as a community organizer on impactful issues,” she said.
