Amazon looking to hire 3,000 seasonal employees in Maryland

Amazon announced Thursday it is hiring more than 3,000 seasonal employees in Maryland as the e-commerce giant gears up for the holiday season.
The jobs include roles for picking, packing and shipping customer orders from the company’s Maryland warehouses.
The Maryland jobs are just a fraction of the 120,000 seasonal positions Amazon hopes to fill nationwide this fall.
While seasonal hires, some of the jobs could become permanent. The company said that last year it transitioned thousands of seasonal employees to full-time positions, and it wants to do the same this year.
“We prepare year round for the holidays and we’re excited to hire for over 120,000 positions this season to help delight our customers,” said Dave Clark, Amazon’s senior vice president of global customer fulfillment, in a statement. “We look forward to welcoming back holiday employees who return year-after-year to Amazon and welcome new faces to the team, many of whom will continue on with regular, full-time roles with the company after the holidays.”
The seasonal hires will nearly double Amazon’s full-time warehouse employment. The company employs more than 125,000 people full-time at its 75 fulfillment centers.
In August, the company held a massive hiring day at its warehouses across the country, including Maryland, where job applicants lined up for hours to apply.
