The 15-floor Residence Inn at 800 N. Wolfe St., part of the East Baltimore Development Inc. overhaul near the Johns Hopkins Medical Campus, will celebrate its opening on Thursday.

The $84 million, 2000,000-square-foot hotel is a project by LSH GE Gateway 2 LLC, Greenebaum Enterprises, Pyramid Hotel Group and the Marriott Corp. The project marks a return for developer Ronald H. Lipscomb after pleading guilty to campaign finance charges in 2009 for his involvement in a scandal that eventually led to the resignation of former Mayor Sheila Dixon.

The hotel also will include 20,000 square feet of retail adjacent the recently overhauled Eager Park. The building also features a roof-top restaurant, 16 on The Park.
