Nelson Coleman Jewelers

As a sixth-generation business owner, Amanda Coleman-Phelps, president and CEO of Nelson Coleman Jewelers, has made a mark in her family’s business. Knowing how to appraise not only the gems she works with on a daily basis but her employees’ needs has proven an invaluable gift.

Coleman-Phelps says she adapts her management style to the needs of each employee to bring out the best in everyone. She is always looking for ways to expand and promote her business and industry. In July of 2017, she lobbied on Capitol Hill against the Boarder Adjustment Tax and Swipe Fees and lobbied for retailers to ensure there is a fair Internet sales tax.

“I want to protect our brick-and-mortar retailers – making sure that our government is doing what they can to assure we get a fair shot at our piece of the retail pie,” Coleman-Phelps says.

She also serves as president of the Maryland National Capital Guild and brings innovative education to all jewelers in the area.
