Emily Burfoot
Craft and Import Sales Representative
Tenth and Blake Beer Company at MillerCoors
Typically, when you think of beer, images of men standing around the TV or tailgating at a football game springs to mind. Not to Emily Burfoot. She wants to erase that stereotype, and as a craft and import sales representative she works hard to showcase her expertise in all things beer.
Upon graduating from the University of Virginia, Burfoot began her career in the sale of spirits and went on to become a certified Cicerone – the equivalent of becoming a sommelier, but for beer.
The four-hour exam to get certified proved daunting. “I failed on my first attempt, but I was determined to achieve certification to demonstrate to customers and peers that I have a well-rounded knowledge of brewing, beer styles, and tasting beer,” she says.
Burfoot volunteers for the Junior League of Baltimore.
“Due to Emily’s can-do attitude and willingness to grassroots fundraise, the event surpassed its corporate sponsorship goal by 30 percent,” says Maria Darby of the Junior League.
