Education Program Manager
United Way of Central Maryland
As the education program manager for United Way of Central Maryland, a nonprofit dedicated to helping families facing poverty, Elizabeth Devereux uses education and music to inspire change.
“Education is one of the most important levers of change in our society. A great education should be a right of all citizens, not a privilege reserved for a few. Music is a powerful and democratic vessel for engaging youth in education…,” she says.
Credited with creating United Way’s On Track 4 Success program, Devereux was instrumental in reducing high school dropout rates in central Maryland public schools.
“Lizzie’s interpersonal skills have helped UWCM quickly establish relationships at all levels of the school system, including with teachers and school support staff, which lead to educators trusting Lizzie and our organization early on and exhibiting a willingness to collaborate,” says Franklyn Baker, president and CEO of United Way of Central Maryland.
Devereux also provides violin lessons to students and supports the Baltimore School for the Arts and Girls on the Run.
