TRX Systems Inc., an indoor mapping company in Greenbelt, on Wednesday released a new version of its Neon Signal Mapper app, adding grid reporting enhancements.

The app for Android devices helps building owners and radio engineers show compliance with National Fire Protection Agency and International Fire Code requirements about how well emergency responder radio works indoors. It can make 3D maps, and does tracking and visualization in situations where GPS isn’t reliable, according to TRX Systems.

The app uses inertia sensors, user corrections and geographical data for real-time location and tracking in three dimensions in places where GPS can’t be used, such as within buildings or in dense urban areas, the company said.
