To encourage women into greater service to the Baltimore City community last year, the three-time Top 100 Women award winner helped to increase the number of participants in Pink Goes Red For Heart Health event, volunteered as an attorney during the group’s first Criminal Record Expungement Resources Fair and served as chair of a free Senior Health and Wellness Fair.

Lowe-Smith is an attorney advisor/senior policy counsel for the Office of the General Counsel – U.S. Office of Personnel Management in Washington, D.C.

Change is happening, and women are leading the charge. How does this inspire you as a woman leader?

It inspires me to dream bigger and know as a woman I bring a unique and valuable perspective on important issues that can promote positive change. People often say “Just get in the room” or “Just get a seat at THE table.” This newer era of women leading change forces us to do more than just get in the room; we have to use or voice, be brave and take a chance.
