The Middle Branch of the Patapsco River now has its own trash devouring inhabitant. Captain Trash Wheel, the third of its kind built by Clearwater Mills in Pasadena, MD, was funded by the Maryland Department of Transportation and the Maryland Port Administration for a cost of $400,000. The 38 feet long, 20 feet wide water and solar powered machine was installed at the mouth of an unnamed tributary in Masonville Cove in early April and had collected 3.7 tons of debris from the water by the end of May.
