McCormick continues strong run with double-digit growth in second quarter

McCormick & Co. Inc. posted another quarter of strong results Thursday, continuing a strong run since it the acquired Frank’s Red Hot and French’s brands last year.

The Sparks company posted sales growth of 19 percent compared to the end of the second quarter last year. Operating income rose from $133 million last year to $192 million in the second quarter this year.

The company attributed most of the gains to its acquisitions, attributing sales from Frank’s and French’s to 13 percentage points of the sales increase.

“Both our consumer and flavor solutions segments contributed to our constant currency sales growth of 16 percent,” Lawrence E. Kurzius, the company’s chairman, president and CEO, said in a statement. “Growth in both segments was led by incremental sales from the Frank’s and French’s portfolio.”

Growth was also attributed to McCormick’s flavor solutions segment, which works with other corporations on their products. That segment grew 18 percent and was also benefited by the Frank’s and French’s acquisitions.

McCormick also reaffirmed its financial outlook for the year, expecting sales to grow between 13 and 15 percent.
