Emily Plahanski, the business development manager with SHIFT, a Baltimore-based consulting, executive membership and venture capitalism company, has been promoted to managing director of SHIFT Society.
After more than two years of leading the business development efforts for SHIFT’s recruitment practice, Plahanski has helped countless companies think differently about the way they attract, retain and recruit top talent. In her new position, she will be leading efforts to grow SHIFT’s membership organization, SHIFT Society, and continue to develop and foster key relationships in Baltimore, Washington, Boston and Seattle.
Plahanski began her career in 2012 as a business solutions specialist for Roth Staffing Companies, where she was quickly promoted to business solutions manager. In 2013, she was awarded Howard County’s Finest Under 39 by the Maryland Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation based on her involvement with the community and her service as Membership Director for the Young Professionals Network of the Howard County Chamber of Commerce. In 2014, Plahanski moved to Rochester, New York to build an inside sales platform for a $100 million firm as its sales and marketing communications manager. In 2016, Plahanski returned to Maryland to share her passion for shaping work culture at SHIFT.
Plahanski is an active member of the Maryland Chamber of Commerce and sits on its executive referral board. She also is a co-lead spearheading the TEARS Foundation of Maryland giving resources and funding to parents of infant loss. She earned a bachelor’s degree in management and marketing from St. John Fisher College in 2012.
