Jennifer RotnerJennifer Rotner

Founder and CEO
Elite Editing LLC

A CEO must wear many different hats, but the role that Jennifer Rotner takes the most pride in is chief culture officer at her company, Elite Editing. She focuses on encouraging her team to create their best work while also finding and nurturing a passion in their jobs and the work they are creating. “I love when I see that come to fruition when we are working together,” she said. “I can feel it working.”

Creating a positive company culture and a dedicated team was a source of strength and comfort to Rotner earlier this year when the company’s main client folded. The night she found out, Rotner worked into the wee hours of the morning trying to figure out how to keep the writing, editing and proofreading business afloat. When she told her team of the closure, they all rallied, asking what needed to be done.

“I realized in that moment that I have a team that will stand with the company and with each other through anything,” she said. “… We ended up not only thriving, which I am really proud of, but also seeing a business opportunity.”

Under the Elite umbrella, Rotner opened Elite Authors — a publishing services company featuring everything a person needs to create a book from a Microsoft Word document manuscript including book cover design, trailers and formatting services.

“It’s been a huge success so far and it is something that I’m not just proud of as a new business but I am proud of because it was a moment in time when we could have failed and instead we turned it into something new and something that everyone is really excited about.”

Rotner is a member of a number of groups, including Entrepreneurs’ Organization, Baltimore Technology Group and BossLady Baltimore. She feeds her creative side as a professional photographer at her business Jenny Lynn Photography and donates her services to a variety of organizations such as Adoptions Together and The Park School.
