Sarah Guy, Ph.D.
BEACON at Salisbury University
Sarah Guy sees herself as a spanning the boundaries between the highly complex world of academic research and the immediate and pragmatic needs of industry.
As the associate director of Business Economic and Community Outreach Network (BEACON) at Salisbury University, Guy, mentors and trains Franklin P. Perdue School of Business students. She also provides area businesses and public-sector leaders with economic modeling and analysis they can use to help make business decisions.
“I speak both ‘languages,’ finding answers through applied research that is soundly based on the foundation of theory,” she said.
Guy is also deeply involved in her community, serving on the boards of Junior Achievement of the Eastern Shore of Maryland and the Salisbury Sunrise Rotary Club. At the Rotary Club she’s helped raise funds for projects both far and near, from local literacy programs to drilling wells in Ghana.
“I don’t know if I’ve ever met someone who has made me more excited to meet new people and work with them toward a common goal,” William Ferguson Sr., District Governor Elect at the Salisbury Sunrise Rotary Club said.
