Associate Portfolio Manager
Brown Advisory Group
Olachi Opara may not be the loudest, but her quiet assurance has earned her respect in a male-dominated field. As an associate portfolio advisory manager at Brown Advisory Group, Opara makes investment decisions on behalf of clients every day. Self-described as having a tenacity that is not exhibited by being outspoken or driven, Opara approaches problems through a more reserved and analytical means.
“I patiently take in a situation and the voices of others, analyze the information, and come to the table with my own thoughtfully formed solution or response,” she says.
This natural reserve pushed her to look out for younger employees who may struggle with how they fit into the older white-male culture of the financial industry. As a young associate, she found herself navigating this world alone.
“I lead by example, but have also developed many relationships across the firm. I did not have an easy path to where I am today, and I want to make sure those that follow behind me know that persevering can give way to innumerous opportunities both within our firm and the local community we support,” Opara says.
