Hope Keller, a veteran journalist with deep roots in Maryland’s legal community, has joined The Daily Record as its legal editor.

“We are extremely pleased that Hope has become a part of our team,” said Daily Record Editor Thomas Baden Jr. “She has a great track record of engagement in thoughtful and sophisticated journalism, and we are confident she will extend our long tradition of insightful and cutting-edge legal coverage in print and other platforms.”

Keller has been a reporter and editor at The Baltimore Sun, The (Norfolk) Virginian-Pilot and The Philadelphia Inquirer. While at The Inquirer she helped edit a series on the nation’s blood supply, which won a Pulitzer Prize for Public Service, and the prize-winning series “America: What Went Wrong.”

She was deputy editorial page editor for the International Herald Tribune in Paris and editor of Baltimore SmartWoman magazine. She also previously served as special products editor at The Daily Record.

Before joining The Daily Record as legal editor, Keller was communications manager for the Pretrial Justice Institute, a nonprofit dedicated to reforming the pretrial justice system, and director of communications for the University of Baltimore School of Law.

Keller has a bachelor’s degree in history from Oberlin College and a master’s from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University.

“I’m thrilled to be back at The Daily Record and look forward to working with the Maryland legal community and to producing news coverage that appeals to practitioners and non-lawyers alike,” Keller said.
