Violet M. Apple
Chief Executive Officer
Girls Scouts of Central Maryland
More than 20 years ago, Violet M. Apple planned an annual program to help children affected by HIV and AIDS, many of whom were caretakers for family members. Apple said the program, which she ran for eight years, sparked her interest in helping others and set her on the path to become CEO of the Girl Scouts of Central Maryland.
Now, Apple said she takes pride in developing diverse, out-of-school Girl Scout programs such as reading and financial literacy, and robotics, for underserved communities.
Apple also mentors two or three women a year, providing advice on how they can transition their careers.
