The Daily Record of Maryland is seeking a reporter to cover the business of law. Candidates should love to break news online and to expand and polish those stories for print. The business of law, encompassing legal education, is one of the paper’s essential beats. It involves trends in legal practice and issues facing firms of all sizes, from solo practitioners to large offices with a national reach, as well as trends in legal education at a time of significant change in the legal marketplace.

Past reporting on legal issues is a big plus. Familiarity with mobile journalism, blogging and social media is required. Ability to shoot photos and video is helpful; willingness to learn and improve is necessary.

The newspaper, based in downtown Baltimore, has covered the business and legal affairs of Maryland for more than 125 years. If you’re interested in a fast-paced news environment and the opportunity to shape coverage for an intelligent, influential audience, this is the job.
