After spending two decades in the financial services industry, including managing several Chevy Chase Bank branches and serving as vice president of Capital Point Funding Group Inc., Song Hutchins wanted to focus on giving back to the community.

In 2010, she founded Asian-American Homeownership Counseling Inc., a nonprofit assisting thousands of residents with keeping and buying homes through education, resources and counseling.

As a legacy to her late husband, Hutchins created a nonprofit, the Dr. Michael Hutchins Impact on Wildlife Fund, dedicated to his passion of supporting wildlife conservation and education.
