More than 700 people gathered at the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall in Baltimore April 15 for The Daily Record’s Maryland’s Top 100 Women celebration.

This was the 24th year The Daily Record has recognized outstanding women leaders from across the state. Winners were selected based on professional accomplishments, volunteer work and their commitment to mentoring. A range of industries were represented, including law, politics, education, real estate and nonprofits.

In all, more than 1,500 women have been honored as Top 100 Women since 1995.

“Our Maryland’s Top 100 Women honorees have achieved amazing accomplishments in their careers. In addition, they are exemplary citizens, committed to the community and growing the next generation of leaders through mentoring,” said Suzanne Fischer-Huettner, publisher of The Daily Record. “They use their success to lift up others, create change and break barriers. The Daily Record is pleased to honor them.”

A panel of previous winners and other business leaders were the judges for this year’s event, which drew a record more than 520 nominations.

During the ceremony, five women were inducted in the Circle of Excellence for being named a Top 100 Woman for the third time. They included Carol Beatty, secretary of the Maryland Department of Disabilities; Dr. Lorece Edwards, an associate professor at Morgan State University; MaryBeth Hyland, founder of SparkVision; Michelle Daugherty Siri, executive director of the Women’s Law Center of Maryland; and Dana Weckesser, CEO and founder of Global Health Partnerships Consulting. They received their awards from GBMC Health Care CEO Dr. John Chessare. GBMC Health Care was a Circle of Excellence sponsor.
