ANGEL FURY V. STATE OF MARYLAND

Criminal law — Sufficiency of the evidence — First-degree felony murder

On the morning of January 5, 2016, Edward Yesaitis was found beaten to death in a motel room on Pulaski Highway in Baltimore City. The State charged appellant Angel Fury and her boyfriend, Christopher Wilkins, with Yesaitis’s murder.

A jury in the Circuit Court for Baltimore City convicted Fury of first-degree felony murder and robbery, but acquitted her of first-degree premeditated murder and conspiracy to commit murder. The court sentenced Fury to life in prison, but suspended all but 50 years. Fury appealed.
