The Arc Northern Chesapeake Region raised more than $130,000 at the 15th annual After d’Arc Gala, “Seas the Day: An Under the Sea Themed Gala” April 6 at the Maryland Golf & Country Club in Bel Air.
The organization’s largest fundraiser of the year, “Seas the Day” raised money to support the nonprofit’s mission to empower people with differing abilities to live, work and thrive in Harford and Cecil counties.
A crowd of nearly 400 guests enjoyed dinner, themed cocktails, silent and live auctions and dancing to live music by The Real Geniuses and the MSE Reggae band. Special guests included mermaids from The Magic Continues, a Forest Hill-based character company that brought the evening’s under-the-sea theme to life.
The Arc NCR’s annual “Fund the Need” campaign raised $24,000 to purchase new homes and renovate The Arc NCR’s existing community living homes to make them more accessible for adults supported by the organization. Updates to existing homes include the addition of wheelchair ramps, accessible showers, raised floors and automatic doors. In some cases, carpets will be replaced with hardwood floors, making homes easier to navigate for those who depend upon wheelchairs for mobility.
