A Maryland nonprofit organization that repairs donated cars and sells them to pre-qualified families recently connected two single mothers with used vehicles.
Vehicles for Change Inc. presented Amanda Kahn, 29, of Pasadena and Megan Jenkins, 31, of Baltimore city, with vehicles on Aug. 30 at the nonprofit’s Halethorpe facility.
Kahn, a single mother of three children ages 9, 7 and 2, now drives a 2004 Toyota Sienna minivan. She no longer has to rely on rides from friends and family members to get to work.
Jenkins, who now drives a 2010 Volkswagen Jetta, saw her commute shortened from the nearly two hours it could take by bus to 20 minutes by car.
Vehicles for Change guarantees low-interest car loans for the families of its program, which lets them build credit.
