Matthew West, David Fraser and John F. Simanski have joined the Baltimore office of Franklin & Prokopik.

west-matthew-franklin-prokopikWest joined the Baltimore office as a workers’ compensation associate. The first attorney in his family, West entered law school with a passion for litigation.  While in law school, he scored a top spot in the Byron Warnken Moot Court Competition and went on to compete on the University of Baltimore’s Family Law Moot Court team.  He also completed 40 hours of mediation training, learning how to effectively work with clients of all backgrounds. Outside of the classroom, he diversified his resume by working in a variety of different areas of law, ranging from trust and estate law to personal injury, to family law.  By the time he graduated law school, West had already submitted an appellate brief to the Florida Fourth District Court of Appeal and a written closing argument to the Baltimore City Circuit Court, both securing favorable outcomes for his firms’ clients.

fraser-david-franklin-prokopikFraser joins as a liability associate. He comes to F&P from the law firm of McCabe, Weisberg & Conway, LLC where he concentrated his practice handling foreclosure cases. Fraser represented banks and loan servicers in residential foreclosure cases, handling all aspects of the foreclosure process from pre-sale to eviction. During law school, Fraser served as president of the Student Bar Association, parliamentarian and evening student representative of the Black Law Students Association, a rule 19-217 student attorney in the school’s Community Development Clinic, and competed on the Thurgood Marshall ABA Labor and Employment Mock Trial teams. Upon graduation, Fraser was awarded the Dean’s Citation for outstanding service to the University of Baltimore School of Law.

simanski-john-franklin-prokopikSimanski joined the firm’s liability law team. Prior to joining Franklin & Prokopik, Simanski served as judicial law clerk to Judge Robert E. Cahill Jr. in the Circuit Court for Baltimore County. In law school, Simanski was the editor-in-chief for the University of Baltimore Law Forum. Also, while in law school, he worked as an adjuster for Travelers in the Special Liability Group. Furthermore, Simanski served as a law clerk at Rollins, Smalkin, Richards and Mackie, L.L.C. He focuses his practice primarily on liability defense.
