A Rockville solar energy company has completed its first community solar project in New York.
Standard Solar Inc. owns and operates the new 7-megawatt community solar farm in Clifton Park, New York. The company expects the new project to generate more than 8.6 million kilowatt-hours of energy each year.
Community solar projects let homeowners, renters, and businesses generate solar energy in an off-site location without the cost of equipment, installation and maintenance by subscribing to the projects.
The project received more than $1.6 million in funding from the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority’s NY-Sun program.
