When Gary Ditto, founded Who – A Staffing Company in 2011, he wanted the company’s focus to be on candidates, who he said were not always well-served by recruiting companies.

“We saw a gap in the market in terms of how the candidate experience in the recruiting world was being overlooked,” Ditto said. “Candidates are not simply a product to be sold to the client, they are people with needs, desires and goals of their own and these needs must be paramount to the recruiting company that is looking to represent them to the job market.”

The strategy has paid off handsomely as Owings Mills-based Who has thrived under Ditto, who is a strong believer in what he calls “servant leadership.”

“I want my team to know I am there to help them overcome any challenges they are facing professionally and personally and that helping them reach their full potential is paramount to me feeling successful,” Ditto said.

Ditto said this leadership philosophy is reflected in Who’s statement of its core values, which are “be connected, be solution focused, put others first and be authentic.”

Who partner Donald Coleman said Ditto excels at building meaningful business relationships.
“He is always asking ‘how can I help you?’ and as a result a lot of our business has been with repeat customers,” Coleman said.

Who was named a Smart CEO Future 50 winner from 2014 to 2016. The company was also named to the Inc. 5000 list in 2015 and was listed by the Baltimore Business Journal as one of 2018’s Largest Temporary Staffing Agencies.

Ditto also serves on the advisory board of Vehicles for Change, which repairs and provides donated cars to low-income families.
