After more than a decade of experience in various roles in the communications business, Greg Abel founded Baltimore-based Abel Communications in 2005.
Abel said that experience, which included a stint as a reporter, has helped him build Abel Communications into the thriving public relations firm it is today.
“I am a former journalist and curious by nature, so I am always asking our team why we might be doing something a certain way and what outcome we’re hoping to achieve,” Abel said. “We focus on working backwards from our client’s goals rather than getting overly focused on a particular deliverable.”
Abel was previously named to The Daily Record’s Most Admired CEO list in 2017. The firm was awarded second place in the Micro Business Category on the Baltimore Business Journal’s 2019 Best Places to Work list, as well as numerous Best in Maryland and Award for Excellence honors from the Public Relations Society of America.
Abel says he is aiming high when it comes to the future of the firm.
“My vision for Abel Communications is to become the most sought-after PR firm in the Mid-Atlantic,” he said. “It’s my belief that our work, our team, and our level of accountability and results stand up favorably against any competition. So I view it as my job to spread the word about the fantastic work we’re doing and open new doors for our team to continue to grow and thrive.”
Abel Communications Senior Vice President Gina Richmond said Abel has created a work environment based on relationship-building and trust.
“As a leader, Greg is forward-thinking, collaborative, and transparent,” Richmond said. “This leadership style has enabled him to build a quality agency that is dedicated to fresh thinking and helping clients achieve their business goals.”
