Robert Matthews has been named chief of staff to Calvin Butler Jr., CEO of BGE and interim CEO of Exelon Utilities.
Matthews will manage the CEO staff function and advise on a range of issues that affect BGE and Exelon Utilities.
He joined BGE in 2005, having previously held human resources roles with Vertis Communications and CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield. Matthews also serves on the boards of the Baltimore Chesapeake Bay Outward Bound School and Bon Secours Health System Foundation.
Baltimore City Public Schools recently recognized Matthews’ work to connect vocational high schools with energy career opportunities at BGE, Exelon and area contractors with an Outstanding Business Partnership Award.
Business degree from University of Baltimore. Also spent three years at Morehouse College. Graduate degrees in business from University of Phoenix and counseling from Loyola University Maryland.
If you had not chosen your current profession, what profession would you choose and why?
I would have chosen to be a City Schools Teacher. After all, it is among the highest callings. Being a teacher would allow me – everyday – to develop and empower young minds.
