Senior Community Market Leader
In her 10 years in the financial services industry, the past 1 1/2 with SECU, Ivy Gales has emerged as an advocate for the credit union movement and a champion of community outreach.
The North Carolina native has lobbied lawmakers on issues that affect credit union members, served as an ambassador for the Howard County Chamber of Commerce and mentored numerous workers in the field, including a co-worker lacking the confidence to move into a leadership position.
“No matter what is on my calendar, I begin each day with positive affirmations and gratitude,” Gales said. “Starting every day with this mindset creates a magnetism for every interaction and moment to have purpose, impact and meaning.”
SECU President and CEO Dave Sweideck called Gales “a driving force behind SECU’s commitment to strengthen its relationship with members and local organizations.” Gales, he added, “frequently leads financial education seminars and career readiness workshops for nonprofits such as the Maryland Food Bank, the (Columbia-based) Zaching Against Cancer Foundation and the Associated Jewish Charities, just to name a few.”
