Ask LaKisha Greenwade what makes her stand out from her peers and her answer is succinct: “I’m a new-age fashionista techie who knows what fits her and lives life on my own terms.”
Greenwade is a graduate of Ohio State University and earned a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Maryland, College Park. In 2015, she founded the Baltimore-based Wearable Tech Ventures, defined on its website as “dedicated to developing and promoting wearable technology while fostering an inclusive culture.”
(Wearable technology is defined on Wikipedia as “smart electronic devices that can be incorporated into clothing or worn on the body as implants or accessories.”)
Greenwade was honored by The Daily Record as an innovator of the year in 2016, the same year she organized the first Glam Tech Expo to bring together the fashion and technology communities.
“I’m committed to showing what diversity looks like in tech and how it even fits everyone when those who are trained and those who are novices come together to create something wonderful,” she said.
