Founding Partner

L.L. Dunn Law Firm

Echoing GreenLaura Dunn, a nationally-recognized victim’s rights attorney, founded her own law practice, L.L. Dunn Law Firm, in 2019.

Prior to starting her own practice, she worked for the Fierberg National Law Group, a Baltimore law firm that litigates sexual assault issues. But she has been a fierce advocate on the issue since she was sexually assaulted as a student at the University of Wisconsin.

In 2013, she helped pass the Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act. The following year, she founded SurvJustice Inc., a Washington-based organization that Dunn describes as the only national nonprofit that represents survivors of gender violence in campus hearings.

“I am committed to inspiring change within various communities on the issue of gender violence,” she said. “For far too long, our legal systems and those within the legal profession have failed to properly support survivors.”

In a letter of recommendation for this award, the dean of the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law, where Dunn teaches, described her as “one of the great national advocates” for victims of gender violence.

“She is passionate, active and deeply committed to making a difference in the world,” Donald B. Tobin wrote.
