Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center is hosting an emergency blood drive Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., in the Johns Hopkins Asthma & Allergy Center, 5501 Hopkins Bayview Circle.
The American Red Cross is facing a severe blood shortage because of an unprecedented number of blood drive cancellations during the 2019 novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. Healthy individuals are needed to donate now to help patients counting on lifesaving blood.
Donating blood is a safe process and people should not hesitate to give or receive blood. The American Red Cross is abiding by social distancing standards and is setting up their drives to have as much distance as possible between donors.
If you have traveled to China and its special administrative regions, Hong Kong and Macau, as well as Iran, Italy and South Korea, or if you’ve been diagnosed with or have had contact with anyone with a suspected or confirmed case of COVID-19, postpone your donation for 28 days.
For more information or to schedule a life-saving donation, call 410-550-0289. To learn more about COVID-19 and the Red Cross’ blood donation safety protocols, visit www.redcrossblood.org/donate-blood/dlp/coronavirus–covid-19–and-blood-donation.html
