MCEDC offers $200K in grants for COVID-19 gear manufacturing

Small and medium-sized manufacturers in Montgomery County who are changing or improving their operations to manufacture personal protective equipment can apply for a grant from the Montgomery County Economic Development Corp.’s new Local Production Fund.

The Montgomery County Council appropriated $100,000 to the fund, and MCEDC provided an additional $100,000 to the fund and may solicit additional private sector funding.

Existing Montgomery County companies, sole-proprietors and some non-profits may be eligible for awards from the fund. Manufacturers and producers with 200 employees or less may be eligible for funding.

Benjamin H. Wu, president and CEO of MCEDC, said in a news release that the fund is for businesses aiming to help the county respond to COVID-19.
