The Community Action Council of Howard County (CAC), the County’s designated anti-poverty organization, today announces the promotion of the following to its board executive team: Oren Saltzman, Esquire-Chair; Lori Conforti-Vice Chair; Sean Harbaugh-Secretary; Anna E. R. Huyett, CPA-Treasurer; Patrick Curtis, CPA, GMA-Immediate Past Chair.
This executive team will lead a distinguished group of advisers who, serving as members of the board of directors, are legally and ethically responsible for the activities of CAC.
Saltzman is a managing member at Adelberg, Rudow, Dorf & Hendler, LLC representing small, medium, and large privately-held, family-owned businesses in a variety of areas. Valued for his commonsense approach, he works to help businesses navigate through various stages of growth and maturity in support of executive leadership or owners. This approach and his deep civic ties to the Baltimore and Howard County communities has served the CAC board well since 2015. He lives in Owings Mills with his wife and enjoys spending time with his adult children and granddaughter.
Conforti has worked for the Glenwood Branch of the Howard County Library System as a teen librarian for the past six years. Her background includes a bachelor’s degree in Social Work and a master’s in education. Lori has served on the CAC board since 2015 lending her talents in particular to the organization’s communications efforts. Lori lives with her family in Ellicott City while continuing to root for her hometown baseball team, the Boston Red Sox.
Harbaugh has served the Howard County community for nearly 20 years by serving on nonprofit boards, task forces, community advisory panels and in working closely with local community associations on a wide array of issues. After two decades at the Columbia Association, he continues to work in the parks and recreation field at the Maryland National Capital Park and Planning Commission. Sean has served on the CAC board since 2015 and before being elected as the Secretary, he served as the vice chair. He lives in Ellicott City with his family and can be found riding his bike all over Maryland or anywhere outdoors with his wife and kids.
Huyett, CPA is a partner at Bormel, Grice & Huyett, PA, a CPA firm in Laurel, Maryland. She provides accounting, auditing and tax services for small businesses, nonprofit organizations and individuals. Anna enjoys serving as Treasurer for CAC and has been a board member since 2015. Anna graduated from the University of Maryland and lives in Ellicott City with her husband, children and dogs. She loves the beach, gardening and kayaking.
Curtis, CPA, GMA is a certified public accountant, chartered global management accountant and shareholder at Rubino & Company specializing in providing audit, consulting, and advisory services to nonprofit organizations, government contractors, and closely held businesses of varying sizes. Patrick is a well-known and respected expert in compliance matters arising out of Federal awards. Patrick manages the strategic direction of the firm’s outsourced accounting practices and serves as an engagement partner in the firm’s consulting and assurance practice. Patrick has a long tenure on the CAC board, having served since 2011 and most immediately as the past chair. Patrick lives in Glenelg with his family.
