Turnbull, Nicholson & Sanders P.A.

Alaina L. Storie’s career goal was to become a partner in her law firm by the age of 40. She reached it three years early.

Storie, 38, is a partner at Turnbull, Nicholson & Sanders in Towson, and the chair of its Family Law Committee.

She graduated from the University of Baltimore School of Law in 2007 and has practiced family law since. The field provides her a unique opportunity to work with people at a time in their lives that is highly emotional and help them come out the other side with a sense of peace and strength, she said.

“I feel that in my practice of law, I am thoughtful and while I may not be the loudest in the room, I have the strength to do what needs to be done,” she said. “I hope that those attorneys and clients feel the same after working with me.”

Storie loves to attend seminars, talk shop with other family law attorneys and discuss cases to constantly improve and build upon her knowledge base.

“I feel that each attorney I have the opportunity to work with, or client that I help, builds upon my knowledge, experience and reputation,” she said.

When Storie’s not practicing law, she dedicates a lot of her time to the Baltimore County Bar Association. She’s served on various committees at the organization, including the Law Day Committee, the Young Lawyers Committee and the Membership and Admissions Committee, and said she was asked to join the Executive Council so she will become the president of the association.

She’s also expanded her volunteer work to include service with the Maryland State Bar Association where she’s serving a three-year term on the Family and Juvenile Law Section Council.
