Miller, Miller & Canby
Diane E. Feuerherd was first inspired about joining the legal field by her mother Kathy who is an attorney. When she began contemplating a career, she knew the law would offer her the opportunity to problem solve and help others.
A graduate of the University of Maryland and University of Baltimore School of Law, Feuerherd served as a law clerk for Judge Lynne A. Battaglia for The Court of Appeals of Maryland. She joined Miller, Miller & Canby as an associate in 2013 focusing on appellate, business and real estate litigation.
She has always liked research, writing and figuring out complex legal issues. “Real estate was a neat way to continue that after clerking because it offers a little bit of everything,” she said. The specialty offers history mixed with local issues. Growing up in Darnestown, she is now working on issues related to places where she drove by or visited during her youth.
Feuerherd enjoys being able to take a complicated problem, work it out and present the solution either in court to a judge or to clients. “It is so neat and thrilling for someone to entrust their problem or their project to me and ask me to try to help them solve a problem,” she said.
Since 2019, she has served as an at-large board member for the Maryland Bar Foundation. She is also co-chair of the Maryland State Bar Association Judicial Appointments Committee and blog manager of the Maryland Appellate Blog.
“I think it is important that we (as attorneys) not just consider our work as in an office but we consider it in the community in which we serve,” Feuerherd said. “It is really important to collaborate with other attorneys in the bar. It is also an incredible learning opportunity and a chance to meet people and learn from them as well.”
