Gordon Feinblatt LLC

From a very early age, James D. Handley’s parents emphasized the importance of education, dedication and self-improvement. He credits those lessons for helping him succeed in life.

A history aficionado, Handley noticed that many of history’s most notable figures, such as Abraham Lincoln, Thurgood Marshall and John Adams, were lawyers.

A graduate of Indiana University and the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law, he has worked at Gordon Feinblatt LLC as an associate attorney since 2017 with his practice focusing on litigation and employment. Handley enjoys the ability to advocate for his clients through written and/or oral arguments through litigation and appreciates the ever-changing nature of employment law.

From 2008 to 2013, Handley served in the U.S. Army including a deployment each in Iraq and Afghanistan. An armor officer, he earned the rank of captain before being honorably discharged from active duty.

As part of the dozens of hours he annually gives to pro bono work, Handley volunteers with the Wills For Heroes Foundation which provides essential legal documents to first responders for free.

Handley is president of the Ellicott City and Western Howard Democratic Club and serves as political director of the Howard County Young Democrats. He and his wife also started Inspire Young Voters, an initiative that helped to register nearly 300 residents to vote, mainly young people.

“My wife and I wanted to assist folks getting registered and also make sure they understand the importance of participating in every election and not just the presidential election,” he said.
