Founder and President
Lauren Asghari was pregnant and commuting 45 minutes each way to work when she came up with the concept for Alderson Loop, the technical and creative project staffing and consulting company she founded in Sykesville. About seven years later, Asghari’s company has grown to 55 employees.
Telecommuting then was not really an option, she said, so she had to get a job closer to home or open her own business. The work-life integration that it took to get a business started required tremendous concentrated effort, she added.
“I was confident I had the work ethic and passion for the industry needed to be a successful entrepreneur,” she said.
Alderson Loop’s services help clients in many ways – finding more fulfilling work and reducing commute times are often among the benefits, she said. “Over the years, I have heard how people’s lives have improved as a result of working with us. Playing a role in seeing other people strive and accomplish their personal and professional goals continues to inspire me,” she said.
Asghari, who earned a bachelor’s degree in political science and a master’s degree in communications from Johns Hopkins University, said she believes in servant leadership and approaching all problems with an eye toward the future.
“Building meaningful relationships matter, and you do that by showing up for people – your employees, customers and business partners,” she said.
Asghari hosts a podcast called “How’d Her Career Get There?” where she interviews other women about their careers in hopes of inspiring others. She is also a member of the Baltimore chapter of the Women Presidents’ Organization and is a board member with the National Kidney Foundation of Maryland and Delaware. She has chaired the Greater Baltimore Kidney Walk for the past three years.
Her commitment to her community carries over into Alderson Loop and its employees. They donate to nonprofits and volunteer two days a year in the community. “I am proud to own a company that puts community involvement at the top of our priority list and that we support causes that are important to our employees.”
