Brittney McKinnon describes her business, B. Carter Solutions, as “a marketing agency unlike any other.”

And she is happy to explain why.

“We exceed expectations by only taking on 10 brands per year to really hone in, get to know and curate bonds and relationships,” she said. “With never-ending ideas and innovations, we go to sleep with our client’s best interest at heart.

“As the visionary and leader, I try my best to always stay 10 steps ahead, showing no fear although I’m totally scared.”

McKinnon earned her bachelor’s degree at Claflin University, in South Carolina, in 2011. Just four years later, she founded her agency, which is based in the Riverdale area of Prince George’s County.

She now has 12 employees, and the company’s net income has increased by 82 percent since its launching.

McKinnon’s success as a millennial has won her several awards and honors, including a Huffington Post “Top 25 in PR” and a “Top 30 Under 30” honor from HBCU Buzz, a website that covers the black college community.

“Becoming a leader is a daily practice,” she said. “I fail more than I succeed, but I’m much closer now than I was two years ago.

“During the pandemic I remain optimistic, showing no fear of what the future may hold,” she added. “I want my team to know that our mission stands strong no matter what the economy says, to create memorable and long-lasting brands that live to tell a great story.”

“As the visionary and leader, I try my best to always stay 10 steps ahead, showing no fear although I’m totally scared.”
