David H. Nevins
President & CEO
Nevins & Associates

David Nevins is big on connections, and in his 44-year professional career in marketing – he’s spent his whole career in Maryland — he has built up plenty in the state.

Nevins launched the Towson public relations and communications firm he still leads in 1984, and now, 36 years later, the firm has grown to 23 employees.

“What sets Nevins & Associates apart from other Baltimore communications firms is the many connections that our team members have in the community and how we leverage those relationships to further goals and objectives,” he said. “With my long-term experience and connections, I have the ability to introduce clients to key leaders in the region who can help them grow their business.”

Nevins earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration and management from Towson University and his master’s in higher education from Johns Hopkins University.

Before establishing his own company, he worked as marketing director for Towson University and in the same capacity for the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra.

Nevins was given an honorary doctorate from Towson University in 2010 and been inducted into the Baltimore County Business Hall of Fame.

“I believe an organization can only be as good as its people,” he said. “As a PR firm, we don’t focus on the traditional ‘column inches’ of coverage, but rather on our clients’ bottom lines.”

He added: “Many Baltimore-based companies and organizations have wonderful stories to tell, they just need some help telling them.”
Nevins recently launched a weekly newsletter, “Making a Difference,” to counteract the negative news stories stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic with good-news stories about local organizations.

Among the leaders he has spotlighted are David Wilson, president of Morgan State University; Steven Schupak, chief operating officer of Maryland Public Television; and Albert E. Reece, dean of the University of Maryland School of Medicine.
