Abate started with Edwards Performance Solutions as senior vice president in 2013 after stints as vice president at NTT Data Federal System and Federal Group. She’s worked in other executive roles before that, including as senior vice president of DigitalNet Government Solutions and senior vice president at Soza & Co. In her current role, Abate’s vision including reaching into new markets and staying on the cutting edge. In 2017, for instance, the corporate solutions provider expanded its offerings to include cybersecurity. In three years, the business segment has tripled in engagements and revenue, she said.
Her role as past-chairperson of The Cybersecurity Association of Maryland also helps keep her abreast of the latest cybersecurity challenges.
The pandemic threw everyone a curveball, but Abate said the company has pivoted to a work-from-home environment that allows continuing support to customers, as well as employees. Regular internal communications and daily virtual physical and mental health checks are on the company’s checklist.
“Finding new ways to remind employees they are not on an island has really helped with morale,” she said.
