Founded in 1991 and headquartered in Locust Point, Southway Builders Inc. is a construction management firm that began as a way of providing quality work to affordable housing developers.
In the intervening 29 years, it has grown steadily, adding such specialties as historic restoration and commercial projects.
“We have built our business around our core values of quality, dependability and integrity, and it fills us with great pride knowing our dedication to those values has translated into recognition for excellence,” said Willy Moore, president of Southway Builders.
“In addition to our own team, we must also recognize our clients, architect partners, and subcontractors for our success. Without them, we would not be where we are today.”
The company’s roster of projects is littered with familiar names.
Southway is currently working on Baltimore’s historic Lexington Market, the 238-year-old Baltimore landmark that is being partially demolished and replaced with a new two-story facility.
In the past, Southway has worked on historic renovations of Baltimore’s Shakespeare Theater and the Baltimore Design School. Both projects won multiple awards.
The company is building the Arundel Elementary School, a replacement for an existing school, and built the $26-million Remington Row, a mixed-use development of apartments, retail and office space, both in Baltimore.
