Born in India, she holds a doctorate in genetics from Pennsylvania State University, a master’s degree in molecular genetics from the University of Leicester in the United Kingdom and a bachelor’s degree in zoology from Stella Maris College, the University of Madras in India.
Since 2018, she has served as the associate director for the Maryland Stem Cell Research Fund (MSCRF)/ Maryland Technology Development Corporation (TEDCO).
“Across three different countries, in federal/state/industry/academic settings, I’ve remained committed to having a positive impact on people’s lives and have persevered and excelled in the face of multiple challenges and sacrifices that come with being a first-generation immigrant and a woman in science,” she said.
Jaishankar is also a strategic growth and advisory board member for the Frederick Innovative Technology Center.
“I am privileged to have the opportunity to make an impact on this field and touch many lives,” she said. “I never take this for granted and I learn each day.”
